Type locality: Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Ijuí, rio Conceição, 28°27’48”S, 53°57’17”W.

Etymology: From the Latin constellatus meaning studded with stars, in reference to arrangement of white bright spots in the dorsolateral region of the body.
