Holotype: MUMF 14012. Paratypes (9): MUMF 14013–14022.

Type locality: India, Mizoram state, Lawntlai District, Kaladan River at Kolchaw, 22°23'N 92°57'E.[1]

Etymology: The species is named in memory of K. C. Jayaram, who made a substantial contribution to Indian ichthyology.
