Gilchristella Fowler 1935

Etymology: –ella, diminutive connoting endearmant, in honor of the late John Dow Fisher Gilchrist (1866-1926), “author of many important papers on the fishes of South Africa,” and author of type species, G. aestuaria. (From The ETYFish Project)
