- Holotype: MVZ 65410, adult ♀, collected by James McDonald, Jr., in 23 October 1954.
- Type locality: “Surprise Canyon, at an elevation of 4500 feet [1360 m], on the west side of the Panamint Mountains, Inyo County, California”.
