Geophagus diamantinensis Mattos et al., 2015

  • Holotype: UFRJ 8833.
  • Paratypes: UFRJ 5370 (16), 6128 (3 c&s), 8245 (10).

Type locality: Brazil: Bahia: Andaraí municipality, Paraguaçu River, 12°50'23" S, 41°19'23" W.

Etymology: The name diamantinensis refers to the Chapada Diamantina, a high plateau with predominance of Caatinga vegetation in northeastern Brazil, where the species is endemic.
