edit- Type locality: Kodakarajima Island of the Tokara Group, Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan.
- Etymology: vertebralis refers to the mid-dorsal pattern of light interspaces between dark blotches, which look like a vertebral column.
- Holotype: KUZ R34204, adult male ♂, 5 July 1994, M. Toda
