Gambusia quadruncus Langerhans, 2012

Holotype: UMMZ 248855. Paratypes: TNHC 45833 (1), 45834 (22), 45835 (5); UMMZ 248857 (26), 248858 (2).

Type locality: Rìo Guayalejo at El Limón, Tamaulipas, México, 19 km south of Xicoténcatl, 22°49'53"N, 99°0'39"W.[1]

Etymology: The specific name is from the Latin quad (= four), and uncus (= hook), in reference to the four hooked elements at the distal tip of the gonopodium.
