- Paratypes (2): NMNZ S.52724 (2).
- Type locality: West of Lauder, Otago.
- Type horizon: Lauder shell bed, early Miocene.
Etymology: From Latin tabidus (= melting, diminishing), referring to the anterior and posterior indentations of the ventral rim.
