- Holotype: MCSNV T 445/IG 23696, almost complete skeleton, parte and counterpart.
- Type horizon: Middle Eocene, Lutetian, zone Discoaster sublodoensis; Bolca, Pesciara cave.
Etymology: Named in honour of Dr. Margherita Sorbini Frigo, geologist, paleoichthyologist, and widow of the outstanding Italian paleoichthyologist Dr. Lorenzo Sorbini, with whom she collaborated in studying the percifomrs of Bolca.
