  • Paratypes: (18) SMF PO 91636-91639, otoliths.

Type locality and horizon: Gabon, Ewongue 10, 30 m, Mandorové FM, Miocene, Serravallian to Early Tortonian.

Etymology: From obtusus (= thick), referring to the thick appearance of the otoliths.
