- Holotype: USNM, 076163, 88-04646, adult ♀, (farthest from data label on slide with 2 paratypes) ex cut flower; 15.iv.1988, L. Chang
- Type locality: COLOMBIA, Guacamaya, intercepted at Miami.
- Etymology: This species is named for the country of the only known specimens and should be treated as a noun in apposition.
