  • Holotype: ROM 84762.
  • Paratypes: ROM 84777 (2, 0).

Type locality: Palau, Helen Reef, N.W. outer reef about 0.5 km S. of northern large ship wreck, N.W. tip of island in lagoon, 2°58’38” N, 131°47’59” E, steep dropoff slope with a large variety of hard corals, 7–33 m depth.

Etymology: The specific epithet singula is derived from the Latin word singulus (= one), referring to the single obvious dark spot on the occiput of this species.
