Type locality: Papua New Guinea, Morobe Prov. Prov., Wau, 1300 m.
Holotype: BPBM, ♂, 28.I.1963, leg. J.Sedlacek.
Etymology: This epithet is based on the combination of the Greek prefix pseudo- (false, resembling) and of E. monstruosus, a very similar species.
