Type locality: Indonesia, West Papua Prov., Arfak Mts., Anggi, Iray, Gn. Disbehey, 1900-2100 m.
Holotype: ZSM, ♂, 19-20.III.1993, leg. A.Riedel.
Etymology: This epithet is based on the combination of the Greek prefix para- (next to; near by) and of E. spinosus (spiny), presumably its sister-species.
