Type locality: Indonesia, Papua, Nalca area, Okloma, 1650-1800 m.
Holotype: ZSM, ♂, 30.IX-1.X.1993, leg. A.Riedel.
Etymology: This epithet is based on the Latin participle armatus (armed) and refers to both the long humeral spines and the armature of the male profemur.
