Type locality: "Waitakerei Range, and other localities". [North Island, New Zealand]
Lectotype: male ♂, designated by Shaw (1957: 646): BMNH? [as syn. of Eucolaspis brunnea by Shaw (1957: 646), but treated as valid by Kuschel (1990: 69) - 'The synonymy published by Shaw (1957) is best ignored, as the author didn't appreciate the distinct differences in the male genitalia']
