  • Paratypes: AMNH 239270 (1), 242666 (97); LSUMZ 13236 (1), 13339 (21); NTUM 5698 (2).

Type locality: Market at Tonshi, 23°27'10.1"N, 120°08'19.3"E, Taiwan.

Etymology: from Latin absconditus meaning hidden or concealed, referring to its being well represented in collections for many years, yet consistently misidentified as member of other species.
