Holotype: MNHN 1991-0155. Paratype: MNHN 2012-0134.
Type locality: Western Indian Ocean, Réunion, 21°03′S, 55°09′E, 450–480 m depth.[1]
Etymology: The specific name exodon is from the Latin exo- (= out) and odon (= tooth), in reference to the exposed anteriorly projecting teeth on the symphysis of the lower jaw.
