- Holotype: FMNH 172723 (original number SMG 12518), adult ♂, skin, skull, and partial skeleton, collected by S.M. Goodman on 30 November 2001.
- Type locality: “Madagascar, Province de Mahajanga, Région de Melaky, Parc National de Bemaraha, south bank of Manambolo River, 3.5 km E Bekopaka, near Tombeau Vazimba, 100 m; geographic coordinates 19°08.4′S, 44°49.7′E, based on GPS reading”.
