- Type locality: BORNEO: Sabah, Danum Valley, Borneo Rainforest Lodge, Flight interception trap.
- Holotype: Guillaume de Rougemont private collection, ♂, 14-16.II.2007, G. de Rougemont leg.
- Etymology: The name of the species means "serrate" (from the Latin serrula = a saw) in reference to one of the internal sclerotised pieces of the aedeagus which is shaped like the teeth of a saw.
