- Holotype: MRAC 91-92-P-214.
- Type locality: Republic of the Congo, Loémé River, behind camp of Chemin de Fer Congo-Océan (railway company of Republic of the Congo) at Ncesse, 04°30'S, 12°32'E [1].
- Etymology: The species is named after Professor Paul H. Skelton, Director Emeritus of the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity. Professor Skelton has long been a student of the taxonomy and biology of the Amphiliidae.
