Holotype: NRM 45661. Paratypes: NRM 40836 (20), 41676 (tissue), 46966 (1, c&s), 46967 (1, c&s), 46968 (1, c&s); BMNH 2015.3.3.1-3 (3), 2015.3.3.4-6 (3).
Type locality: Myanmar: Rakhine State: Kananmae Chaung, near Leldee village, by foot 45 min from Gwechaung village at km 18 on road Thandwe-Taunggok, 18°35'39" N 94°22'45" E.
Etymology: The species name catenatus is a Latin adjective meaning chained, and refers to the chain-like colour pattern on the sides.
