- Holotype: USNM 92720, adult ♂, skin and skull, collected by Edward Alphonso Goldman on 6 January 1898.
- Type locality: “Huachinango, altitude 5000 feet [= 1524 m], State of Puebla, Mexico”, restricted to “latitude 20.18°N, longitude 98.05°W” by Carraway (2007).
