- Holotype: at MZUSP #1749, ♂ (from FMNH-INS 28977).
- Type locality: Rio Mapari Município Japurá, Amazonas, Brazil.
- Type host: Laniocera hypopyrra (Vieillot, 1817) (Aves, Passeriformes, Cotingidae).
- Etymology: Named after Holly L. Lutz (FMNH), in recognition of her interests in studying avian parasites and her extensive efforts collecting avian ectoparasites and parasitological data. Noun in the genitive case.
