- Type locality: Papua New Guinea, East Sepik Province, Wamangu, 11-Mar-05, 143°39.125'E, 03°47.228'S, 100m, PSS, ex caterpillar on Psychotria micrococca (Laut. & Schum.) Val. (Rubiaceae).
- Etymology: Pukpuk in Melanesian Pidgin means crocodile, a favourite of the indigenous people living around Sepik river.
