Type locality: China, Jiangxi Province, Yujiang County, River Xinjiang drainage, 28°12′N, 116°49′E [1].

Etymology: The specific epithet is a combination from the Latin crassus (= thick), and cauda (= tail), in reference to the relatively thick caudal peduncle.
