Holotype: SAIAB 96616. Paratypes: SAIAB 96614 (1), 96613 (1), 96615 (1); SAM MB-F037962 (1).
Type locality: South Africa, Windmill, near Simonstown, 34°12.025′S, 18°27.390′E [1], sandy plain with rubble and shell fragments.
Etymology: The specific name musaicus is the Latin for 'mosaic', it is given for the colour pattern of the species, the reticulations of which are reminiscent of mosaics.
