Type locality: BRAZIL: São Paulo: Parque Estadual de Campos do Jordão, Rio Galharda, 22°41.662'S, 45°27.783'W, 1530 m, 13–15.ix.2002, Blahnik, Prather, Melo, Huamantinco.
Etymology: This species is named Chimarra latiforceps, from the Latin words latus, wide, and forceps, a pincers or tong, in reference to the inferior appendages, which are shaped something like a pair of broad tipped forceps.
