- Correct type locality: R/V Ikhtiander, Sala y Gomez Ridge, cr. 5, tr. 50–57, 25°00’W–25°46’S, 88°27’W–99°39’W, 345–770 meters.
Distinguished features: dermal spines relatively short and apart; a relatively long head (28.4–35.1% SL); relatively long pre-gill opening length (60.6–69.3% SL); relatively long upper jaw (20.8–27.5% SL); and different lateral line neuromast counts: supraorbital series (AB) mainly 12, upper preopercular (BD) mainly 4, hyomandibular series (FG) mainly 4–5, pectoral series (GH) mainly 13–15), and lateral line proper (BI) 33–40.
