Holotype: UCR 2936-01. Paratypes: 50 specimens.
Type locality: Costa Rica, Atlantic slope, Heredia, Sarapiquí drainage, La Virgen de Sarapiquí, Río Sarapiquí, at the Tirimbina Biological Reserve, 149 m, 10°24'56.84"N, 84°07'18.70"W Google Maps.
Etymology: The specific name, costaricensis, refers to the country of the type locality: Costa Rica, Atlantic slope, Heredia, Sarapiquí drainage, La Virgen de Sarapiquí, Río Sarapiquí.
