Name

edit
  • Brounina distincta (Broun, 1893)
    • Obsolete combination: Micrambina distincta
    • Original combination: Cryptophagus distinctus
    • Primary type: syntypes (3)
      • Fixation: automatic
      • Description: 3 [adults]
      • Repository: BMNH (1), not located (2)
    • Type locality: 'Moeraki'
    • NOTE: Broun (1893: 1346) stated 'I have but one specimen, sent by Mr. Sandager. Two others that I have seen are paler in colour.' Hence, three specimens were originally included in the taxon. The fact that Broun did not 'have' two of them is irrelevant. Leschen & Gimmel (2012: 16) incorrectly refer to a "holotype".
