  • Type locality: BRAZIL: Morro da Tromba (26° 12′ 44″ S, 48° 57′ 29″ W; 900 m a.s.l.), municipality of Joinville, state of Santa Catarina, southern Brazil.
  • Holotype: MHNCI, 9819 (ex DZUP 161— Fig. 7), adult female; 25 January 2011, by MRB and SAAM.
  • Etymology: The specific epithet is from the Latin verrucosus (“warty,” “rugged”) in reference to the highly rugose aspect of the dorsum of the body of the new species.
