Type locality: About 20 kilometers northwest of Payathouzu (at border with Thailand), about 15°25'N, 98°15'E [1], between Kyondaw and Phadae, "Chon Son" stream, Kayin [Karen] State, Myanmar.
Etymology: Its specific epithet honors Katsuma Kubota of an aquarium export company in Thailand who first purchased the catch and sent them out for identification.
