Betta mahachaiensis Kowasupat, Panijpan, Ruenwongsa & Sriwattanarothai, 2012

Holotype: THNHM F-01630. Paratypes: many at THNHM.

Type locality: Thailand, Samut Sakhon province, Muang district, Tha Sai subdistrict, behind the Pattarachai food factory, 13°34'N, 100°15'E.[1]

Etymology: The species epithet mahachaiensis is derived from its common Thai name for a subdistrict of Samut Sakhon Province, viz. Maha Chai, the first publicised collecting site.
