Bathyaethiops flammeus Moritz & Schliewen, 2016

  • Holotype: ZSM 43945.
  • Paratypes: AMNH 265018 (3); DMM IE/9790 (2), IE/9791 (1 c&s); MRAC B5-023-P-0001-0003 (3); ZSM 39295 (13).

Type locality: Democratic Republic of Congo, Province Orientale: Bakéré river at Yambula-Bakere (01°42’41"N, 23°43’24"E).

Etymology: From the Latin flammeus for bright red or burning, referring to the bright red spot on nape in front of dorsal fin.
