Type locality: Brazil, Paraná State, municipality of São José dos Pinhais, Arraial, Guaricana Reservoir, affluent of the rio Cubatão, 25°42’29”S, 48°58’25”W [1].

Etymology: The specific epithet guaricana refers to the type locality of the species, the Guaricana Reservoir of Paraná State.
