- Type locality: AUSTRALIA: Western Australia: Pilbara Dist., Hillside-Marble Bar Rd, 66.1 km SW of Marble Bar, 21.51928°S 119.3805°E, 226 m.
- Etymology: Named from its relatively northern distribution in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, after the Latin adjective arctous, -a, um, meaning northern.
