Type locality: Brazil: Roraima: Rorainópolis, Macoari stream, tributary to right side of rio Branco, 1°09'12.1" S 61°50'40.8" W.

Etymology: From the Latin adjective maximus, meaning the largest, in reference to the off-the chart size of this species.
