Name

edit

Amastus collaris (Herrich-Schäffer, [1853]): wrapper to pl. 15, fig. 65 BHL

Type locality: Venezuela.

Syntypes: one male specimen probably a syntype;

  • Note: This taxon was described from the Kaden collection, housed in Saint Petersbourg. Toulgoët (1986: 50) designated a female neotype housed in BMNH, presuming that the syntype was lost because it was not found in ZMB: he had not however checked the Saint Petersbourg collection. This neotype designation is thus not justified.

Synonyms

edit
  • Phaegoptera collaris Herrich-Schäffer, [1853] (Original combination)
  • Amastus collaris; Rothschild, 1910
