- Type locality: “Mexico: Chiapas, San Cristobal, Reserva Huitepec, 7700–7850’, 3.viii.1990, J.B. Woolley, 90/015B”.
- Etymology: From the Latin medius = middle, and carina = keel, referring to median carina on propodeum.
