Type locality: Bay on southwest coast of Batanta Island, 00º 53.969’S, 130º 30.995’E, Raja Ampat Islands, West Papua Province, Indonesia, 26 m depth.

Etymology: The species is named limarius (Latin: of mud) with reference to its mud-bottom habitat.
