Acanthocleithron chapini Nichols & Griscom, 1917

  • Holotype: AMNH 6548.
  • Paratypes: AMNH 6552 (1), 6575 (1), 6681 (2).

Type locality: Avakubi [1], Oriental Province, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Etymology: The specific epithet is a patronym for James Paul Chapin, one of the top ornithologists of the twentieth century, who inter alia was second on command on a six-year lasting expedition to the Congo, where also the type specimen were collected.
