Acanthiops griffithsi Lugo-Ortiz & McCafferty, 1998

Holotype: Larva, Kenya, Turasha R, 2800 m, 0°40'S/ 36°40'E, 9-i-1991, R. W. Griffiths and S.D. Cooper (mouthparts, forelegs, gill 4, and paraproct mounted on slide [medium: Euparal]). Additional material: larva, same data. Type deposited in Purdue Entomological Research Collection, West Lafayette, Indiana.

Etymology: We name the species after Ronald W. Griffiths, who collected the specimens and donated them for study.
