Type: N. Wallich Cat. 6270 pro parte (in flower, [1821]; Lectotype: K [K000030990^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}, determined by G.G. Maiti on 7 May 1986]; Isolectotypes: BM [BM000945073^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}], E {E00438055^(GBIF), E00502347^(GBIF)}, K [K000030988^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}, determined by G.G. Maiti on 16 June 1986], L 0001559^{(GBIF, JSTOR)} [determined by G.G. Maiti on 11 February 1987]).
- Note: Cowan (1932: 311) noted that Wallich's Cat. No. 6270 consists of 5 sheets of W. puberula distributed to Herb. Wall. ("a sheet with specimens in flower and fruit" regarded as type by Cowan; cf. K001123486^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}), Herb. Kew. (2 sheets), Herb. Edin. and Herb. Calcutt. [CAL0000010652 (198981) or CAL0000010653 (198982)]; other 5 ones are indeed types of W. appendiculata Wall. ex Cowan (including K001123487^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}).
Type locality: Nepalia[NEPAL].

Nazimuddin & Qaiser (1989) place W. appendiculata and W. scabra Kurz under W. puberula.
