Welcome to Wikispecies!

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome!

Haploidoceros

edit

Hello again. I've recently created the Haploidoceros page. Feel free to edit it if I've got any facts wrong, or reply to me here (or add a post to the Village Pump) if you have any questions. Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 09:08, 2 April 2022 (UTC).Reply

Good afternoon,
The Haploidoceros page is correct, thank you.

Praemuntiacus

edit
Good morning! I have completed the page of Praemuntiacus. I tryed to make a link to the Wikipedia page of the author of the type species Короткевич Олена Леонідівна [Korotkevich Olena Leonidivna] ( https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9A%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%BA%D0%B5%D0%B2%D0%B8%D1%87_%D0%9E%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B0_%D0%9B%D0%B5%D0%BE%D0%BD%D1%96%D0%B4%D1%96%D0%B2%D0%BD%D0%B0 ), but my attempt was unsuccessful. Please, could you fix it? Syrius234 (talk) 09:42, 10 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Good day! We generally don't add inter-wiki links to Wikipedia or other Wikimedia sister projects. Instead we create our own pages, and link them to Wikipedia (and Wikinews, Wikiversity, Wikibooks etc.) using Wikidata links. In order to do this I have created the Wikidata item Q111550160 for Praemuntiacus, which in the future will function as a "hub" connecting all pages on Wikimedia regarding Praemuntiacus, whether they are in Wikispecies, Wikipedia, Commons, or somewhere else. Unfortunately I couldn't yet find any Wikidata items for Vladislav Mararescul or Denis Zakharov (except perhaps Q59678001 which is a rather rudimentary page with very little information, and I think it isn't the same Zakharov..? He is only listed as "researcher", which of course isn't a very precise scientific discipline. Also, he isn't listed on Wikispecies Zakharov disambiguation page.) Hence I haven't yet been able to add any author information to the Wikidata Praemuntiacus item, but I will do that as soon as the other author's are represented at Wikdata. (There is a Wikidata item Q60140614 about you though, but it feels wrong to leave out the other two authors, and it isn't possible to create any "red links" in Wikidata.)
I have made a few small edits to the Praemuntiacus page here at Wikispecies. Thank you for creating it! I think it looks good, and it will be even better once we/someone has created the now red-linked author pages. Kind regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 10:53, 10 April 2022 (UTC).Reply
OK, thank you. My co-authors are young researchers (paleontologists) from Moldova, they are not PhD yet. Syrius234 (talk) 14:28, 10 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Is this the proper DOI: 10.1127/njgpa/2020/0931? If so, perhaps the page numbers listed on Praemuntiacus are incorrect? By the way whether or not an author has a PhD or not isn't important in cases like this. Both Zakharov and Mararescul have clearly taken part in the publishing of scientific works, hence both are eligible for author pages here at Wikispecies (and consequently also Wikidata items). Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 00:49, 11 April 2022 (UTC).Reply
Of course Zakharov and Mararescul should have author pages. I just explained why there is not so much information about them on the web. Yes, the pages indicated for this article are not correct. I am going to rectify it. Thank you Syrius234 (talk) 07:24, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

──────────── Thank you for fixing it so quickly. As for Mararescul and Zakharov, are they both Moldovan, and palaeontologists (or paleomammalogist)? Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 11:38, 12 April 2022 (UTC).Reply

Denis Zakharov and Vladislav Mararescul are both Moldovan palaeontologists. They published on a broader range of taxa. Syrius234 (talk) 12:18, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the information. I've created the Vladislav Mararescul and Denis Zakharov author pages and the corresponding Wikidata items Q111593880 and Q111593885. Please feel free to add any relevant information about their taxonomy-related publications to their respective Wikispecies pages. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 12:10, 13 April 2022 (UTC).Reply
Thank you! I will add some taxa during the next weekend Syrius234 (talk) 13:07, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have added lists of taxa described by Rădulescu and Korotkevich. Some of them are regarded today as junior synonyms of other taxa. Syrius234 (talk) 09:01, 16 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I added pages with taxonomic details of Praemuntiacus pidoplitschkoi and Muntiacus pliocaenicus, those two species are synonymous Syrius234 (talk) 13:40, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Praemuntiacus pidoplitschkoi
