Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome!

removing *

edit

Please do not remove all * yet, as they are used in an experimental showcase on Peracarida. For use in Vernacular names, they can be removed everywhere however. Thanks Lycaon 09:33, 31 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

* should be removed only from front of interwiki links. If there are wrongly removed * characters somewhere, please let me know. --Harriv 12:15, 31 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bot line

edit
Any examples? --Harriv 14:09, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Anopheles_antunesi is an example. Replacing 'and' in Name section would make it more universal :) --Kempm 15:03, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also there are instances when people have used the plural form of Taxonavigation words when there is only one taxon associated with it in the list. Is there a way for a bot to locate these typos and fix them to? Example: "Classes: Insecta" being changed to "Classis: Insecta" Totipotent 09:24, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think all of these are doable. However I'm "out-of-office" until end of next week, so you'll have to wait few days. Is there list of words with plural and singular forms? --Harriv 12:52, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes there is, you can find the list on the Wikispecies:Templates page. Just add the prefixes Super, Sub, and Infra to them. Thanks. Totipotent 14:55, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reactivate HarrivBOT

edit

Is there any chance HarrivBOT can be reactivated? There is still a lot of cleanup it could do. For example, a search through the 2007-04-20 dump of the Wikispecies database (excluding most non-taxon pages) shows over 1400 pages with "Interwiki". --Georgeryp 18:04, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

'Species' microformat: bot needed

edit

Please see: Wikispecies:Microformat. If people agree to apply this microformat, a bot will be needed. Thank you. Andy Mabbett 10:33, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
