Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! - MPF (talk) 12:13, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Interwiki links edit

Hello Gtaf. Please do not add inter-wiki links to the different language versions of Wikipedia, as you did here. Those links are now served automatically (and "invisbly") by Wikidata, and there is no longer any need to use them on the actual Wikispecies pages. Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 12:17, 6 July 2016 (UTC).Reply

@Tommy Kronkvist:, OK. Sorry. Gtaf (talk) 12:41, 8 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
No problem. It's not a huge mistake and wont break the servers or anything like that – I just wanted you to know the proper procedure. :-) Tommy Kronkvist (talk)‚ 20:24, 30 July 2016 (UTC).Reply

Taxonavigation templates edit

Hi again. When creating taxonavigation templates for genera or species, you may consider using the {{Gbr}} template. If you try it out you might find it useful. The template automatically adds a wiki link to the taxon name, renders it in italics, and adds a line break after it – however involves writing a lot less code compared to plain wiki syntax. You can see an example of it here. Please be aware that since it automatically renders the taxon name in italics, it should only be used for genera or species; not for taxa ranked as subtribes or higher (since they should not be written using italics).

Also, please note that using the template is only a friendly advice of mine. Using the {{Gbr}} template is not mandatory, and if you don't like it there is nothing wrong with the way you have written your earlier genus templates. Regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 20:25, 30 July 2016 (UTC).Reply

Hello Tommy. Thank you. I had copied the template {{Monanthes}}. So I changed it also. Gtaf (talk) 03:38, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Tommy, is there a list of templates like {{Gbr}} ? Gtaf (talk) 13:14, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Many of them, for instance {{Taxonav}}, can be found in Category:Formatting templates. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 13:17, 31 July 2016 (UTC).Reply
