Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at the Wikimedia Commons.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! BanKris (talk) 19:44, 23 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello

Thanks for your contributions to date. I hope you do not think that I am being too interfering, but I have completed Ocotea floribunda to include its synonymy and a few more references. The taxon page could be better, for example to include links to local fora and an image, but there is not one on Wikicommons unfortunately. There are a few bits of advice I can offer. If you look at the list of synonyms you can see that each category is in date order rather than alphabetically - taxonomist prefer it this way, as well as the use of the term Synonymy for a complex list. Also the use of templates for the authors is always recommended. I would also suggest that there is a bit of a pecking order for secondary sources. The best is WCSP it is 99% accurate and up to date, but not inclusive - no Octea! COL is very good after its recent update, but needs a really good check for more controversial taxa, but it is easy to download a list for WS editing. TPL is easy to download from but is out of date and needs a thorough cross check. Tropicos is good with useful links to BHL and local flora etc., but species list can not be trusted, so need cross checking. IPNI is essential for the correct publication and scientific name details, but contains pretty well all published names, so use it with a little bit of care! Finally. please have a look through our Help section. If you need more help then feel free to contact me on my talk page or the community ask on the Village Pump. Good luck and I hope you enjoy making contributions. Andyboorman (talk) 20:53, 28 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrolled rights

edit

Dear Felino Volador, You have been granted autopatrolled user rights, which may be granted to experienced Wikispecies users who have demonstrated an understanding of Wikispecies policies and guidelines. In addition to what registered users can do, autopatrollers can have one's own edits automatically marked as patrolled (autopatrol). The autopatrol user right is intended to reduce the workload of new page patrollers and causes pages created by autopatrolled users to be automatically marked as patrolled. For more information, read Wikispecies:Autopatrollers.

  This user has autopatrolled rights on Wikispecies. (verify)

You may as autopatrolled use the autopatrolled user box on your user page. Copy and paste the following code on your user page: {{User Autopatrolled}}

If you have a Meta-Wiki user page, you can put the user box for Meta on your Meta-Wiki user page.

There's always a need of patrolling files edited by unregistered users, and if you think you have a good understanding of Wikispecies policies and guidelines and want to help out with patrolling, you can request patrol rights at Patroller.
