Rhynchobatus laevis (Bloch & Schneider, 1801)

  • Holotype (unique): ZMB 5536 (stuffed).

Type locality: Japan.

Etymology: laevis (= smooth), presumably referring to smooth body and small, cobblestone-like scales. (From: The ETYFishproject)
