Type locality: Northeast of Cape Lambert, Western Australia, 19°29'S, 117°35'E, depth 70 meters.

Etymology: named in honor of Keith Sainsbury, for planning and managing the initial trawl surveys of the continental shelf of northwestern Australia, for recognizing the need to document the fauna before addressing more management-oriented questions, and for pioneering research that provided an excellent biological baseline.
